Scaling and Polishing is a generalized cleaning to enable comprehensive periodontal evaluation and diagnosis. Simply, this cleaning is for the removal of sticky, bacteria-filled plaque; dental calculus (tartar), a build-up of calcified plaque on the teeth and stains, above and below the gum line. There are two types of dental scaling instruments used, ultrasonic instruments and hand instruments.
Fluoride Treatment primary benefit is that it helps prevent tooth decay. It can also reverse tooth erosion that has already taken place.
